How do I prepare my pet for an appointment at VRSP?
Prior to your visit, please with hold food 12 hours before your consultation, as sedation may be required for diagnostic procedures.
Water restriction is not necessary.
If possible, please discontinue any anti-inflammatories (aspirin, Rimadyl, Metacam, Deramx, Zubrin, etc) at least 24 hours before your appointment as these medications may amsk symptoms, making diagnosis more difficult.
If there is a possible need for your pet to go to surgery the same day, you may bring a small amount of their food to avoid diet change that may lead to stomach upset.
Personal items may be left with your pet to make them more comfortable.
During your appointment we request that all dogs must be on a leash and all cats must in a carrier while at VRSP.
